Our Group Notes

Week 1 (7:30-8:30) 1/12/2017

Adrienne, Yvette, Jin, Jie-You (Michael), and Bryan formed a group during class. We agreed to conduct research on Adrienne’s idea of a school in Busuanga, Palawan, Philippines.

 

Week 2 (5:30-6:00) 1/19/2017

We discussed the roles each of us will take and the information we will research:

Adrienne: background of community, community needs, location, and cost

Yvette: business plan, funding, brochure

Jin: budget spreadsheet and building design

Jie-You (Michael): website and curriculum design

Bryan: mission and philosophy statements and curriculum design

 

Week 3: (5:30-6:00) 1/26/2017

We discussed the curriculum design, the organizations that give grants to international schools and education, as well as the design of the school (Jin will create this). Adrienne researched the lot that will be chosen for our school site.

 

Week 4: (5:30-6:15) 2/02/2017

We reviewed website, talked about organizational chart, and confirmed that we will send our work to Jie-You (Michael), who will upload to the website. Everyone set up meetings to meet in smaller groups or pairs during the next week.

 

Week 5: (1:15-2:15) (5:30-6:15) 2/08/2017

Yvette and Adrienne met up at Pfau to discuss the budget spreadsheet and rough draft of the business plan. Bryan, Jie-You (Michael), and Jin met before class to discuss what should be included in the curriculum design.

 

Week 6: (5:30-6:00) (7:30-8:00) 2/09/2017

We discussed the website.

Jie-You (Michael) uploaded all content to the website and consulted with the team about design.

The team created an organizational chart. Yvette will create in Word and will email to Jie-You (Michael).

Jin created the budget and we gave her feedback.

Yvette created business plan and the team gave her feedback.

Adrienne will add background summary to the business plan.

Bryan is expanding on a working rough draft of both the mission statement and philosophy of education.

 

Week 7: (5:30-6:00) (7:10-7:30)

Michael is uploading the location with screenshots.

Everyone will send Jie-You (Michael) bios and pictures.

Yvette sent org chart.

Bryan wrote mission statement and philosophy of education statement. Jie-You  (Michael) will upload.

Bryan finished curriculum design and will send it to Adrienne, who will work with Jie-You (Michael) on uploading it. Adrienne conducted supplemental background research.

Jin will create a design for the school based on a rough draft the team created collaboratively.

Week 8: (5:30-6:00) (7:10-8:10)

Yvette, Adrienne, Bryan, and Jie-You (Michael) have written their individual biographies, including their photos as well. Yvette created and shared the brochure. Adrienne will make 25 copies for the presentation next week. The business plan, bibliography, and group website have been updated for final publication.
