Philosophy of Education
We view our role within the community as partners, and this is reflective in not just what we teach, but how we teach. Social justice is woven in our curriculum, as we aim to promote critical thinking and community activism. Our project-based approach helps encourage higher-level thinking, teamwork, and establishes community outreach by incorporating real-life experiences.

Our academic approach is based on STEAM principles, which helps connect bridges of relevancy through inquiry. This will allow our students to solve real-world problems the Busuanga face that directly impacts sustainability and cultural survival. Learning is an on-going, active process and we pride ourselves on students taking ownership of their education.

Mission Statement
The Busuanga Island International School was created to help address the inequities the Busuanga children face in the Palawan province of the Philippines primarily because of the exploitation of their land. Through a partnership with local community leaders and elders, we have joined to help establish meaningful learning experiences, which connect to their cultural backgrounds as well as giving them the tools for navigation in globalized community.
